Full Preparation before Applying Floor Paint

Before epoxy paint installation, a lot of preparations needs to be done,which include checking the concrete floor, environment, paint materials, tools,equipment, people.

Here we make a list of all aspects of preparation before applying floor paint for your reference:

Requirement on Concrete Substrate	1,Flatness: The altitude difference of concrete substrate should not exceed 2mm within 2 meter length; polished surface is preferred.
	2,Concrete strength should be ≥25Mpa,Weak strength of substrate will leave the paint layers off
	3,Concrete Thickness >50mm on all building layers
	4,Moisture exists in concrete and mortar floor,which will reduce the bonding strength between paint and substrate,also will cause paint bubbles and delamination. Judgment Method:
	4.1,Moisture content meter to check the substrate water content,which should be below 6%.
	4.2,In method of ASTM4263,put thin plastic film at size 45cm×45cm to the substrate surface,and seal the 4 sides with adhesive tape. After 16 hours,if the water appears under the plastic or the substrate turns black,the substrate is not dry enough for paint.
	5,Substrate Concrete drying time usually should be over 28 days.
Requirement on Environment	1,The whole area must be sealed to prevent paint quality problems like impurity,sinkhole,spongy surface.
	2,Temperature should be between 10～35℃，Relative air humidity ≤80%
	3,Temperature and humidity transformation will affect the paint curing,leveling and appearance property.
Pretreatment to Concrete Floor	On the surface of substrate concrete, cement dust usually are attached,there are always cement particle mortar in loose condition without strength.Oil,grease, chemicals,rust stains,water,wax,etc.all of these attachments will affect the bonding power between paint and substrate,and must be grinded and removed before paint.Cracks,joints,holes on concrete should be repaired to be even and smooth with necessary materials.
Site Preparation	Make sure there is no other people working on things that's irrelavent to floor paint; Guarantee supply of electricity; The rooms should have enough light.
Paint & Tools	Check the paint according to the list to see if there is any missing or damage to the package. Prepare the necessary tools&equipments for application.
Painting Team	The team should be well organised. People have their own job positions,including mixing paint, grinding floor,applying paint,etc.
